Rail Fence Baby Quilt

On my list of quilts-I've-never-made-but-probably-should sat the rail fence quilt. How'd I go almost six years without making one of these?

This was so fun to make, and quick too. I just threw all the strips into a box and pulled them out two by two to sew together. Much fun was had :)

There are lots of yummies in there... DS, Joel Dewberry, Lotta Jansdotter, Carrie Bloomston, Lizzy House, C+S, Tula Pink etc. LOVE.

I used two different fabrics for the back... my favourite Juliana Horner print and my favourite solid (for now!), Kona Wasabi. I quilted it with a white cotton thread in a crosshatch to keep it nice and simple. The binding is a Robert Kaufman grey and white dot with a small sliver of the Juliana Horner print :) So pretty *pet pet*.

The quilt is currently available in my Etsy shop :)

Triangle Baby Quilt

How fun is this?! I started cutting triangles from the large scraps on my cutting table because I thought they were too good to just lay in a pile!

I used a DS print for the back -- one of my favourites! I know I say that a lot about her prints, but there are some that are just special! I love how happy this print is... the pink and orange flowers against the yellow grid is just too good. I pulled five different prints to make a scrappy binding... those are my favourite to do :)

This quilt sold minutes after I listed it on Etsy but I imagine I'll be making another scrappy triangle quilt again soon!

Cross Baby Quilt

I hadn't made a cross baby quilt in a couple of years, and I thought it'd be fun to make another one! I tried to get a nice mix of prints and colours, and I think it turned out super cute :)

There are lots of DS prints, as usual, but I threw in some cute prints from Tula Pink, Lizzy House, Joel Dewberry, C+S, Alison Glass, etc.

I used one of my favourite DS prints for backing a baby quilt... the little orange and pink flowers against the navy check is just so darling. And for the binding, I went scrappy because that I just felt it suited this quilt :) I quilted it in white thread in a grid in between the squares. So cute!

The quilt is currently available in my Etsy shop SOLD.

HSTs All Over The Place

I think I enjoy making HSTs a little too much. I pulled maaaaany DS fabrics from my stash (my never-ending stash), made HSTs and decided to just slap them together without too much thought. I like the random haphazard way the HSTs ended up :)

I quilted straight lines a 1/4" inch away from the ditch, bound it in one of my favourite orange prints with a guest appearance by a yellow floral heehee :) And the back is a darling navy print with pink and orange teeny flowers. I have so many yards of this because I love it so so so much. I'd be ashamed of my greed if it weren't so cute!

It's currently available for sale in my Etsy shop :) SOLD

HST Lap Quilt

The obsession with HSTs and triangles in general just goes on and on... Hehe :)

I still had my Lotta Jansdotter fabrics out from my last project with them (because I clearly don't know how to put anything away), and then decided I'd make something else with them. Can't get over the colours... and I like how all her collections just go so well together.

I laid out the HSTs in a vertical chevron pattern but I didn't pay too much attention to darks and lights, so you sort of have to squint at it like you would one of those 3-D autostereograms from the 90s. We watched a Seinfeld episode that featured it the other day and the hubs admitted he's never been able to see the 3-D image. Oh grief... lol!

Fess up, who else hasn't? Hehe!

I used one of my favourite text prints from Ikea (they don't seem to sell it anymore!!! Grr!) for the back and used a black and white stripe for the binding. I quilted it in a crosshatch since the HSTs go every which way :)

The quilt is currently available in my Etsy shop :)

Lotta Jansdotter Patchwork Baby Quilt

I made a wee little patchwork quilt! I love making these... I had some Lotta Jansdotter lying around from a project I've just finished (it's being quilted, I'll show you when it's done!) so I thought I'd make a little baby quilt :)

It looks adorable on one of the sofas in the living room... Maybe I need a lap one? Hahaha...

Sort of kidding, sort of not?

The quilt has fabrics from four of Lotta's collections -- Echo, Bella, Glimma and Mormor -- and I love how they play so nicely with each other. Her colours are just on point every single time. LOVE!

I backed it with Kona Ash to keep the focus on the front, and bound it in a light grey sketch by Timeless Treasures.

It's currently available in the shop :)

More Triangle Quilts!

I've made more triangle quilts for the shop! And there's even a new colourway :)

I haven't a name for it yet -- I've been trying to name it and no one can come up with anything that suits it. Also, I'm terrible at naming quilts. I keep thinking of something with 'candy' because that keeps popping into my head. But then I'm not sure I've ever eaten candy that was dark blue or that greenish yellow before lol Suggestions, anyone? Edited: I've decided on the name 'Rock Candy'. Thanks to everyone who suggested names though... don't be annoyed at me for not taking any of them on!

Something about these colours together makes me so happy. They're cheerful and fun, aren't they?? I play with the solids in my stash a lot, and one day I pulled these colours and just left them in stack on one of my tables. LOVE.

Kona Wasabi has become one of my favourites and I decided to piece the back for this one. I don't normally piece the backs of the triangle quilts for some reason, but I just really wanted to use Wasabi on the back and I thought I'd test the waters by toning it down with the grey.

As always, I used a black and white stripe for the binding, and stitched in the ditch in white on the front and grey on the back.

I love them all stacked like that... SO squishy!!

I've just listed Rock Candy (SOLD) along with Peachy Keen (with a grey back) and a Tango Mango in the shop :)

Scrappy Baby Quilt

I love this quilt so much, and it's entirely made from scraps and orphan HSTs and flying geese blocks!! This is why my sewing room's a mess... I don't throw things out and just let them collect in a giant pile on my cutting table.

Making this quilt was super fun because there was no planning involved... Sew this to that and then this and then that and TADA!

That racoon face (from Acacia by Tula Pink) peeking out makes me giddy hehe I don't know what it was doing on my cutting table, but I had to include it. There's a lot of DS in there (of course) and other random lovelies I've used in the last few months.

Apparently I have a lot of orphan flying geese blocks. These ones are part of a quilt that'll appear in a book sometime in the future.

For the back, I used one of my favourite DS prints... yellow grid with gorgeous pops of orange and pink flowers. Be still, my heart :) And the binding is a hot pink dot by Dear Stella which I also love a great deal. I used it because I wanted something to frame the whole quilt, and I thought it was one of the few things that would actually stand out, given all the brights in the quilt.

It's currently available in the shop :)

Peachy Keen Triangle Quilt

I made another triangle quilt! Surprise! You guys are shocked. SHOCKED. I can tell.

Stacking fabrics and playing with colours is très fun when taking a break from sewing, and sometimes they look so pretty together that they have to become a quilt, pronto. Plus I had the perfect backing for it, so tada!

I used the last bit of my black and off-white stripe for the binding on this one since it suited the colours a bit better. I think it was a Me & My Sister by Moda... I wish I'd bought tonnes more. Le sigh.

The backing is from Carrie Bloomston's line Collage, and I love it to pieces. I love most text fabrics, and this one is just perfection.

I'm pretty terrible at naming quilts, so Peachy Keen popped into my head after A LOT of thinking. But it's kind of cute, right? So the name fits... kind of? I don't know... don't judge me :)

It's currently available in the shop. SOLD

Tango Mango Baby Quilts In Stock

There are now three Tango Mango baby quilts in my shop :) I made all three with different backs... Ash (grey), Aqua and Mango (light orange) for something different.

As many of these as I've made, I still haven't tired of them. I think that's because I don't really take custom orders on them, so I make them when I feel like it. Like I've missed looking at the colours, and I pull out the fabrics to start cutting :) This is one quilt I definitely don't wish to ever tire of.

Briar Rose Log Cabin Quilt

I finally cut into my Briar Rose stack! Admittedly, I bought another FQ bundle so that I wouldn't hyperventilate about cutting into it. Don't judge.

Does anyone else have this problem? If I continue on this route, I'm going to need a bloody warehouse for all my hoarded fabric. In my mind, the first bundle is for my future daughter. As are the other stacks of cute kiddie fabric I have. I'd better have quintuplets if this continues. (Uhh no, I'd better not. My mum had twins and they were quite a handful, thank you very much.)

ANYWAY. How cute is this?! I thought very long and hard about what to do with the fabric, and because it had such amazing colours, I thought it'd be cool to contrast them in a log cabin style block.

The little strawberries kill me. The little insects and the lady bee are just too much. Heather Ross is a genius.

I backed it with a Moda Dottie in grey, and I love those because they're so beautifully soft and have a wonderful hand. I used a pale pink for the binding (I couldn't tell you the name of it if I tried... it was in my stash) and I think it came together really well.

The quilt measures approximately 46" by 58" after washing and is currently listed in my shop :)
