My Sister Is Amazing... And Insane

A couple of nights ago, my little sister Aurelia very nonchalantly informed me that I ought to expect something in the mail. I thought it was something she'd ordered that she wants me to mail to her in Australia. She said the parcel's actually from our middle sister, Averil, and the parcel was for me.

I asked her what the heck was in the parcel, and she said one word. "WANT".

And immediately I knew that crazy woman had bought me the Coach Chelsea bag that I'd been lusting after. Who the hell does that?!?! Averil. That's who. I asked her why she'd do such a thing, and her reply was a very casual, "Oh, because I thought you should have it". Umm... Okaaaaaay...

I'm completely flabbergasted.

Doesn't it look pretty on my Liberty of London quilt? Hehe!

Ave, I don't know what to say except THANK YOU. Doesn't seem quite enough, but just know that I love you and I love your gift :) Awesomest middle sister ever. -- LBS, xoxo.

Going to go pet it now.

Cake + Sewing = My Kinda Awesome

It's rhubarb season! Which means I find the need to buy it every time I see it and make something. Usually strawberry rhubarb pie, but yesterday I thought I'd try something different and went with a rhubarb coffee cake. If you like rhubarb, you need to make this. Nom nom nom.

Back to working on the quilts for my parents. I got busy with making baby quilts for the many, many friends and family who were / are expecting, and had to set this aside. Even though it's a little monotonous making the same kind of block over and over again, I can't help but smile while I make this because I love that I'm making them for the two best people in the world :)

Fashion Inspiration: Impatient For Spring Edition

I can't wait for Spring so I can dig up my blazers and denim jacket, and put away my wool leggings.

Spring / Summer Footwear

I think being able to go outside yesterday without my leggings made me start gagging for lighter footwear too. I love boots, but it'd be nice not to have to stand at my door for eons lacing up every time I leave the house.
Can't get any more comfy than a pair of low Cons :)

Love me some strappy sandals, especially ones flat enough to run around in without my feet crying.

Love this one, but it's a go to lunch / dinner and sit down kind of a shoe hehe

I cannot take you seriously. I also cannot stop laughing.

New Obsession

I need another obsession like I need a hole in my head.

I've never been a huge fan of Coach but last week, my sisters and I spent a considerable amount of time in a Coach store and I started falling head over heels in love with this.

Ah nuts.

NYC, Here We Come!

We're headed for NYC today and I'm pretty sure my feet are already crying because there'll be lots and lots of shopping!

And eating.

But mostly shopping.

First order of business: Find a Zara store and get my hands on these dresses.

Ahhhhh so cute!

I'll be back soon! :)

Fashion Inspiration

LOVE.

Want.

Must find raincoat / anorak-type article of clothing of equal awesomeness . Pronto.

Preferably in a different colour. Me and yellow aren't friends.

In a related story, we're getting buckets of rain here in CT. A summer's worth of rain in two days. It's given me a chance to put on my rainboots so I can make puddles go splash! :)

Yes, I'm five-years-old.

Man-Repelling

I came across the blog Man-Repeller a while ago and have since realised there's plenty in my closet that have man-repelling qualities.

It's easy to realise this when your husband points it out to you. Extreeeemely helpful.

The other day...

Hubs: "You look very nice today."
Me: "Thanks... but I always look nice..." (I'm really not this cocky. Pinkie swear.)
Hubs: "Well see this dress fits you nicely. You have some dresses that kind of come so far out... and... they make you look bigger than you are..."
Me: "Are you talking about my French Connection dress???"
Hubs: "Err sure?"
Me: "But it's French Connection!"

Sometimes fashion just trumps everything so I'm still wearing those billowy dresses :P

And as if to prove my point, Prada's latest offerings are drenched in man-repelling abilities.

No bueno, Prada. No bueno at all.

I'd totally wear the shoes in the last two pictures though.

Cape Love

I have professed my love for the cape once or twice before. I shall do so once again.

Want this cape, please. Want want want...

Le sigh.

Made Up My Mind

The UPS man brought me pretty things from Sweden today!

Oh hello shoes! Or shall I say, hej!

Okay so I took FOREVER to decide on a colour. My first choice was the red because I love red and I have a million red shoes to prove it. Red shoes that sit in the closet and never see the light of day. Except one pair that I wear to work sometimes because they're flat and comfy.

Then on the other hand, I also have a million black shoes, but they get worn a lot. Plus I used to be the Queen of Goth, so ya know.

And so what I'm saying is, I went the boring, practical route. Don't hate me.

Hellooooooooo peep toes in black! They smell all leathery and woodish. I'm not certain they actually smell good because I'm completely drunk on shoe love.

Why, thank you! The Swedish are so polite.

They fit! Perfectly :)

I think I'm going to wear socks while I wear them in because the leather's still stiff, and I get blisters so easily. Blisters you can see from space.

The hubs and I have a date tonight so guess what I'll be tottering around on! :)

Zara, We Meet Again

I used to shop at Zara all the time when I was working in Singapore. It's usually nice, crisp office work wear or slightly wackadoo teenage stuff. Nothing in much in between. Definitely nothing like this.

I like this new look. I like it a lot. My bank account, however, does not.

Oh, and I keep watching the Making Of section because that model dude is ten levels of cute and so very droolsome. I'm sure my mother and husband are going to be thrilled to read that I'm perving on a manchild...

Decisions, Decisions...

What...

colour...

  do...

  I...

  CHOOSE?!?!?!

I kind of want a pair of Swedish Hasbeens peep toe clogs. I keep looking at all the different colours... and I cannot choose a damn colour. I'm a grown woman. How is this so difficult?!

Fashion Inspiration: Cute Edition

It's hard to look cute while it's boiling hot and you feel like a puddle of yuck... so a little inspiration is in order :)

I want to steal her dress! So pretty!

And I'd also like to steal that skirt. I love how light and fresh her outfit is!

Too cute!

There's a version of this romper at Urban Outfitters and the hubs was trying to convince me I'd look good in it. I'd look like a 2-year old. With boobs. Last time I checked, that's not a good look.

Anthro Love

I accidentally clicked on Anthropologie's site today, and I accidentally scrolled through the 'Dress' section, and I accidentally found these to drool over. Umm, oops?

Loving all the black and white dresses! Dots and plaid, oh my!

If you need me I'll be in the corner sobbing.

Fashion Inspiration

There's something so ethereal about this chick, isn't there?

I want to steal her cape, handbag, sunnies and bowtie. And I don't think she'd like that.

Summer = Gigantic Hat Wearing

I have a great big floppy summer hat. Until yesterday. Yesterday my husband decided to be funny and rip it. See, the top had come a bit undone, but all it needed was a little bit of mending and it'd be alright.

The hubs thought it was beyond repair and figured it'd be hilarious to try to remove the top bit of the hat (he didn't realise it's basically one loooooooooong string that's been fashioned into a hat so there's no amount of ripping that'd take it apart). I did not think it was so funny because now I need to look for a new hat.

I need a hat because I detest the sun more than anything. A fairly wide brim is essential because if the sun touches my skin, I go a lovely shade of red. Pretty.

This is what my hat looked like. It's now available again at J. Crew.

It annoys me greatly that I have to purchase it again.

There is also this colour. I don't know which I like more.

Opinions? Or suggestions for other hats that don't cost $34?

Cath Kidston Love: The Blue Edition

Funnily enough, everything I like from the new Cath Kidston catalogue is blue. Non-intentional though!

I loooooove doctor's bags. I want this one please. The patches call out to me.

Want that dress. Want it bad.

So cute. Really loving this saddle bag.

My bank account is so thrilled that Cath Kidston is not available in the States. Hmph.
