Girl Seeking Suit Valet

Ever since I saw this picture on decordots, I've been searching for a nice suit valet for my husband. Preferably one exactly like that! My dad has one, but it's wood / metal and massive. He offered to give it to the hubs but I kind of like this sleek minimalist one. And I didn't want to have to carry it home from Singapore!

I've found one sort of similar but it's in the UK. It's not similar enough for me to think about shipping it here though. And I've found other ones that are quite nice, but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger and purchase them. Why does the Internet try to ruin my life by showing me pretty things??? :/

(Also, I want to whitewash our floors and the hubs wants to wring my neck. HEEHEE!)

Living Room Pillows: The Conclusion

The pillows are done. I really appreciate everyone's input and I agreed with the majority of the votes in favour of charcoal. I was two seconds away from sewing them on and I decided to ask the hubs, just to be sure.

Hubs: "Bone. I like the lighter one."
Me: "WHAT? WHY? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Hubs: "I think it looks better!"
Me: "OMG no! But I like the charcoaaaaaaaaaaal!"
Hubs: "Fine, do whatever you want. I chose the wrong colour because I am the biggest butt in the world.*"

* Okay, that last bit was what I was pretending he was saying...

So I went in to work yesterday and decided to just pull fabrics from the Moda Boutique line that I'd used for the fronts of the pillows.

I. Am. A. Genius.

Problem solved. Peace has been restored. Stains and cat hair can just bite me.

Tada! The hubs loves them, and I do too. I went with two different colours of the same print just cos I'm wacky like that. I didn't put zippers on the backs because I'm tired of being stabbed in the face / leg / arm by the zipper pull.

Nice to have some colour on the sofa :)

Quilt Upholstery

How pretty!

I think these look so darling, especially with the 30s fabric and traditional patterns. Of course to do this in my house, I'd need to be the kind of person to have pretty sofas and things, instead of cats that shed and puke on every bloody surface of the house. Not bitter... just saying...

Plus I'd have to buy extra seating because there'd be no way I'd allow any bum, human or feline, to rest on such beauty. See! I can't have pretty things. I should've been a museum curator. I'm really good at not using things that I find beautiful. It's a sickness, really. I can just picture it now... I'm so going to be that old lady who wraps her sofas in plastic. Oy.

Decorating With Quilts

I love seeing quilts draped over furniture... they just make a home that much homier :)

Decor Inspiration

I love lots and lots of pictures on the wall sitting together. The more random the better. And all that light streaming into the rooms... love!

And then on the other hand we have this. It just blows my mind. I often sing the first and third ones, and my husband always 'raps' the second! I kind of need these on our wall, please. Oooh perhaps a quilty version? Oh my...

('Raps' is in quotes because he cannot. Hard to believe, I know.)

Decor Inspiration

I'm drooling over the simplicity of graphic designer Angela Hardison's apartment. Such a gorgeous mix of old and new.

I Tried... And Failed Spectacularly

I've been avoiding going to Target since the Liberty of London collection was released in mid-March.

Then yesterday my dear husband got this grand idea to go to Target to get something for his parents. I didn't even think anything of it until we were about to turn into the parking lot and I shrieked "Nooooo I cannot go to Target!! Liberty of London!!!! I am weak!". To which my husband replied, "Then just stay in the car."

Yeaaaaaah... No.

Now, I know I make quilts and it's stupid to buy one but look at all that pretty! And honestly, it costs less than if I were to make a king quilt. That's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

I'm already using the bag. I can't help myself.

And this little guy was just too cute!

How could I not take him home? Look at that little bum. Cute. Even the hubs loved him.

I did show a lot of restraint. I had another bag and a few dresses in my clutches before I came to my senses (well, that's relative) and got what I had to have. Please note that I did not say what I needed.

So a word of caution. If you need to go to Target and do not intend on succumbing to the gorgeousness that is Liberty of London, I suggest you invest in a good pair of blinkers. Otherwise, just prepare your poor little credit card for the massacre that's about to take place.

Consider yourself warned.

Decor Inspiration

I've been looking at pictures of interiors because I'm trying ideas on how best to add some colour to our home. We're those boring people who are continually guilty of going with 'safe' colours (well, aside from my studio).

How cute is that quilt?! Simple patchwork is always the best, I say.

By the way, I'm not the sort to put pillows on my bed. I love the look of it, but having to relocate 50 million pillows before diving into bed each and every night would drive me barking mad.

I need to take up crochet...

If I have a boy, I'm hunting down that wall paper to slap on his wall.

I love reading nooks. The perfect place to curl up with a book or your laptop... and perfect for my husband to bash his head on the low ceiling cos you just know he will.

If you had this in your house growing up, you would've been the coolest kid ever. It shall be my aim in life to get a spiral staircase slide (say that fast 10 times!) installed in my house before I die. I'm only thinking of my future kids... pinkie swear.

Another Wall I Like

I want a wall just like that! Sure I'd probably fall and crack my head a million times trying to write on it, but how awesome is it!?

Plus it reminds me of the movie If Lucy Fell where they had a painted wall calendar. Holy 90s, I haven't thought about that movie in a looooong time.

Also, now it makes me want to make a quilt out of solid greys... hrmmmm...

Feeling Blue

Since I'm feeling blue and getting really friendly with my bed, I thought I'd post pictures of a few of my favourite blue bedrooms.

I'm feeling about the same as I did yesterday... although the coughing's getting getting more spectacular by the hour. Fun.

Love Is Grand

Just gorgeous. I might need to borrow this idea when we get round to sprucing up our bedroom.
(By the way, that Dresden Plate quilt in the first picture is divine!)

Beautiful Bookshelves

As mentioned before, I love floor to ceiling bookshelves. One day, it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Shopping For A Lamp

I'm in the process of taking over the dining room and turning it into my studio. I've been sharing the guest room and since my sister came to visit, I'd moved downstairs to the kitchen dining area... and I realised I quite like sewing downstairs. Plus we'd intended on turning the dining room into my studio when the time came to start a family and the guest room would be turned into a nursery.

So I figured, why not just turn it into my studio now? In the year and a half we've lived in this house, we've used the dining room possibly a total of five times. We have the kitchen dining table, plus we normally eat in front of the TV like sophisticated adults.

Anyway, there's a really ugly chandelier thing in the dining room, which I've managed to ignore all this while since I hardly spend time in there. But now that I'll be spending most of my waking hours there, I'm pretty sure I'll set it on fire before long.

I don't know what kind of light to put in that space... something boring and simple would probably be best. But wouldn't this Glansa pendant lamp be so awesome?

I even found it made into a baby mobile. So cute!

And then here it is in a couple's wedding. Lovely :)

Just a few bits of inspiration that caught my eye at Home Sweet Home.

I like collecting things, can you tell? :)
