When I'm at dinner with two of the hub's cousins, their spouses and children, and I find out that the book my MIL asked for as her birthday gift is actually... um... How do I say this... Erotica.
Erotica!!!
Wanting to die doesn't even begin to explain how I felt. And the poor hubs... He was trying so hard not to choke on his dinner lol!
And then this conversation between the hubs and I followed...
Me: "Umm, honey I already bought the book. It's the first of a trilogy."
Hubs: "She is NOT getting the other two!"
Later on, he got on the phone with his mother to ask her what she's doing with erotica lol Oh honey, sometimes momma needs to have some fun too.
(And yes, the book is Fifty Shades of Grey. Which I'm told is terribly written. But I'm not compelled to find out for myself.)

That's some friggin hilarious! Does she know it's erotica or was she just hearing that everyone else was reading it? I'f she knows, Im pretty impressed she was cool about asking for a copy rather than buying and sneaking....
I have to wipe the tears from my eyes and straighten myself after nearly dying of laughter now.
What's wrong with your hubs! Maybe it's hard for him to think of his Mom as a Woman! I read the first book, it was good erotic, but not porn.
As soon as I read the first line I could guess which book it was! She may not even know - it's just a popular book right now...or whatever, you know!
I knew the books were "steamy" before I read them, but had no idea just how much kinky sex is in them! Like every 20 pages there seems to be something crazy! It's pretty hard core.
I'm not sure I would have put those books on a birthday list for other people knowing what is in there now. I bet she just knows they're books that everyone is reading. Just make sure to ask her how she likes it after you give it to her! ;)
Tooo funny!! I tell ya, something happens to people when they get older!hehe!
So now we are all dying to know...does she know what the books are about? I hear way more than bodice rippers and bare chested lords or pirates....so made me laugh!I
Funny!!!
Very funny! I saw that book in Barnes and Noble the other day, and I had no idea that it was Erotica. I love that your husband does not want for her to read the other two books in the series. I would love to hear the conversation between your husband and his mother about this book...I am sure it would be very humorous.
LOL, my friend just read them and said the same thing... she read it because some other friends recommended it. She said it's very poorly written so I don't think I'll waste my time on it... Your MIL is hilarious! :)
Cracking up! I honestly can't buy enough copies for the library these days--over 100 holds for the copies we have. It's ridiculous. And nearly every woman on staff has read it or is on the list to read it. OH the education they're getting, it's hilarious! Especially the ones in their 70s. One said to me, when I raised an eyebrow, "Meg, I've been around a long time, and I know a lot of things. But I'm always interested to see if there's something new for me to learn!" O.O
HA!!! Have you seen Ellen reading bits from the book? Google it, friend; you won't regret it. :)
