There's a list of frequently asked questions I get via comments and emails...
What did you do before you started quilting?
I worked for Public Relations agencies in Singapore, first at an international firm, then moving on to a boutique firm. I liked it enough, I was good at my job, but I can only fake-smile for so long. I did in-house communications after that, and decided I had to move back to Australia. I worked in a doctor's surgery after I moved back because I'd intended to move to Melbourne... then I met the hubs, and the rest is history.
Do you accept blog sponsors / advertisements?
No, not at the present. I'm not completely ruling it out, but it's probably unlikely I will.
What camera do you use?
I currently use a Canon 5D Mk II.
What books do you read?
I used to be a voracious reader but ever since I began quilting, I haven't really had the time nor the inclination! It's quite a pity because I love the written word. Now I read quilting books and blogs! My husband continues to read a lot (he reads about three at any given time... show off), and tells me about what he's reading. So I guess I read vicariously through him? Is that possible?
You've lived in so many places... how'd that happen?
I've lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and now the States. I was born in Singapore, and when I was very little my dad got a job in Hong Kong so we moved there for a few years. When I was a teenager I moved to Australia on my own for school, and remained there for over a decade. I moved back to Singapore to be with family and work, then back to Australia. Which is when I met the hubs. Soon after, I packed my bags and moved to the States.
What kind of cats do you have?
My babies, Matilda and Isobel are Ragdolls. They share the same father, so they're half sisters. Funny thing is they both look like their mothers. Matilda is a blue lynx point bicolour, and Isobel is a blue point bicolour. They're so sweet, follow me around the house like puppies, and make me laugh every day.
Can I use pictures from your blog?
Yes, but please credit and link back to my blog :)
I'm starting a blog... do you have any advice?
The best advice I can give is to just be yourself. Talk about what you love and what you know. And always have fun with it. Once it becomes a chore and feels like work, you're not going to have a blog that you can enjoy writing.
Where did the name Blue is Bleu come from?
Honestly, nowhere. I just came up with it because I thought it sounded cute and a little clever. Probably not, but I still like it, so that's good.
What sewing machines do you use / recommend?
I only have Janomes so I can't recommend any other brand. I love my Janome machines. I use a Sew Precise (I think it's been discontinued now) for piecing and a Horizon for everything else.
Do you take custom orders?
I used to but unfortunately, I don't any longer.
