Make Life... A Surprise!

A very dear friend of mine had seen the first Make Life... quilt I'd made a couple of years ago and said in passing that it would be what she'd want for her own kid one day.

And that day has come! Well, in May anyway. She has absolutely no clue I've made this for her so it'll be a lovely surprise, I hope :) Do you also get the tingles when you're surprising someone and you just cannot bloody stand it?!?!

This time I used a jelly roll instead of a layer cake and it turned out so stinkin' cute.

I used a fabric I bought from Ikea ages ago and I think I need to get loads more of it! It's nice and clean looking, and I'm sure my friend will appreciate that.

I quilted it in a crosshatch, the top with a light grey and the back with a white thread. The binding is a green and white dot from Moda that I thought was cute with the front and back.

It's on its way to Singapore and I'm just dying for her to get it!!! :)

Its gorgeous Audrie! And I love that ikea print! Have you seen the houses print they do? I must have both, soon!

What an adorable quilt! I love this pattern in big blocks or small but the jelly roll makes it easy to piece, a good thing. And I need to head over to Ikea, great fabric for backings. Have a great week.

So sweet. Has anyone ever used the Ikea fleece throws for batting? Works great and right now the baby blur ones are something like $2.49.

I had tingles too when I made a quilt for a friend who wasn't expecting it. She was moving to be near her first grandchild and the personalized baby quilt made her cry. It's awesome/cool how love and inspiration can be sewn into a quilt...your friend may need a few tissues when she opens the package!
