I need to preface this post by saying that I'm not really a fan of bacon. If it appears in my food, I have to remove it. I know, I know, I'm sick in the head and shouldn't be allowed to take up space on this planet. But I don't like salty things (I suspect I'm a supertaster*), and bacon is just about as salty as food gets. Aside from... err... ya know... salt.
But I came across this recipe for Boozy Bacon Jam, and I know that this would be my family's idea of heaven.
I'm thinking it doesn't even look half bad, especially with the rocket (arugula) and tomato on yummy, crusty bread. But the second I eat that, I'll start gagging. Attractive, no?
I do believe the next time my sisters visit, I'll need to have jars of this at the ready. Or they could just take this as a bribe to come visit me soon :) It's been an entire year since they were here last. To quote Metallica, sad but true.
* I watched a documentary once about Supertasters and I seriously think I am one. It occurs more often in women (check), Asians (check) and they're people who tend to hate green tea (check), alcohol (check), coffee (what? no effing way.), raw veggies (kind of check?), tonic water (check!!! So gross!), carbonation (check!), and salty (check), fried (check) and fatty (check) foods etc. I just don't have the inclination to have a test done on me or put food colouring on my tongue and count my papillae. All I know is anything too salty, sweet or fatty makes my head swirl. But it does mean that anyone who likes chicken skin or cake frosting should keep me close.
