A Wedding Quilt For Friends

Friends of ours are getting married in October and I'm making them a wedding quilt! They'd just renovated their home, so I did a little spying when we went over so I could figure out fabrics and a pattern. I finally decided on Wild Rose by Blackbird Designs since they had lots of the same colours in their home.

The hubs was a little worried about the floral prints... "He lives there too, you know!". I really don't think it's too girly, so we're probably safe :) And also, nobody asked him. Ahem.

I like this pattern from the book Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts so I decided this would be it. I didn't quite fancy the centre star, so I replaced it with a Swoon block.

(By the way, I noticed that a couple of the blocks in the quilt shown above were wrongly placed. You'd think they'd proofread before going to print! Hopefully people realise this when they're making the quilt because I imagine they'd refer to the picture more than anything else.)

I had to size it down from a 24" block to a 16" block to fit. I don't actually have the pattern, but it was fairly simple to figure out what went where from pictures I've seen on the Internet. I think it's going to be a pretty quilt and I hope they'll like it.

Oh, and yes... The background is Kona Ash. I can't help myself. It's a sickness. But it goes so well with everything!
