I got one tiny, little corner done last night and I began to wonder how in the hell I'm going to wrangle a queen-sized top's worth of hexagon flowers when the time came. It's situations like these that swearing was invented for.
But, I love it.I think it'll be worth all the headaches because I'll end up with something I really love. At least that's what I'm telling myself :)
By the way, you see the blue hexie flower at the top right? That one's all golf balls and tees, for my Dad. I'm going to make one of strawberries for my Mum :)

Hi! You are coming along marvelously with your fun hexies. A couple suggestions? 1) Put the hexies together in small groups first...then sew the small groups together...then sew those groups together. I think you will have less "quilt wranglin'"! 2) Second idea is to put the hexie quilt together the way Sew Sara (and myself) are. Here is a link to her site:http://sewsara.blogspot.com/2011/05/what-hex.html. I decided to put my hexies together this way after I saw her quilt idea. I like to think of the sashing as little garden pathways! It also makes the "wranglin'" easier, I think.
Keep piecing!!

PS: Did you read the Stash Manicure blog posting on sewing hexies together so the stitches don't show? She has a different sewing technique than usually demonstrated...I tried it and it is WONDERFUL. No more stitches peeking through the front side when I sew the hexies together!
Once things are joined you can start removing the papers. That makes the whole thing quite a bit lighter. Looks great!
Hi Audrie! When you say you do these in front of the TV, are you cutting them, sewing them by hand, or both? Thanks, they look cool. Linda.
They look great! Keep going :)
