A Quilt For Dylan

I'm in love with this quilt. I love it so much I almost want to give birth to a baby boy, name him Dylan Jacob just so I can keep it. Pretty sure the hubs would have something to say about that...

I picked the colours out of my stash and decided to keep it mostly solids just because I knew my cousin Cheryl has very simple tastes, and it's difficult to guess what kind of prints people like. If you get it right, it's wonderful... if you don't, well... it's the big suck.

I quilted it in very thin lines, which nearly drove me crazy. It always happens with thin lines though, doesn't it?
Before you begin, it's the greatest idea EVER. Halfway through you're wondering if maybe you can hand it over half quilted and call it a day. But, and this is the important bit, once you get to the end, you're so thrilled with yourself, you cut yourself a big slice of chocolate cake and eat yourself stupid. True story.

I did put a little FMQ on the quilt though... I quilted the little man's name on the side of the block. I don't know if you can read it, but even if you can't just say you can, okay? :)

I put a little heart at the end. Kind of a space filler. Mostly just cute.

It'll be off to live with Dylan in Australia. I hope he learns to crawl on it, learns to sit up on it, and has lots of fun wearing it as a cape once he's old enough to want to wear a cape.

Gorgeous! I have often steered away from the straight lines but they really upped the amp on this quilt!

You are amazing! All the straight line quilting in it's self is amazing, but I'm really in love with his named quilted on the side! Awesome!!

Great quilt! Worth all the torture of the thin line quilting. Love the modern feel of it. I'm sure Dylan will drag it behind him for years!

Yep-those straight lines will drive you to straight to eating chocolate cake but what a way to go. Really like your modern edge rather than the traditional teddy bear route!

I love that, it is just perfect! Yep, straight lines are one of my favorites, but they eat your brain about half way.

Great colors and the thin linear quilting looks awesome.

I think this turned out amazing, Audrie! The quilting definitely made it--has a very Denyse Schmidt feel to it.
Bonus grats on having it featured over on Modern Day Quilts!
