I'm glad I finished the coloured blocks of the commissioned quilt I'm working on in time for show-and-tell on National Quilting Day!
Yeah, I'm a dork.
I did a rough sketch (you like my mad colouring skillz?) and figured out where to put the colours without them sitting next to each other. The empty blocks will have paper pieced cats. Heehee! I know, I know, but they'll be done in a cream print, bordered by white. I managed to find a suitable yellow for the quilt... most of the yellows are from Moda Eden. So pretty!
So 25 coloured blocks later... Tada! I used a white square in the centres since I'll be using white for the cat blocks, and the border, so it kind of ties them together somewhat.
The client likes the pinks the best... I have to agree with her :) She feared that this might be too feminine for her husband's tastes. Honestly, with those colour choices, the guy didn't stand a chance.
Besides, I think men should just accept that manchester (bed linens... I typed manchester just because I'm used to calling it that) we're going to like is just not all that manly. Just as well that you shut your eyes and sleep in bed so the pretty flowers don't scare you. My husband just should be thankful our quilt is made from Moda Authentic! Although the next one is going to be made from Hope Valley... so... oh well.

Yep - nothing manly about that quilt at all. But it should be nice and springy when done. We need some happy colors!
I love your quilt sketching and coloring! The layout looks so cool. This is going to be a stunning quilt with the contrast from the white squares and sashing to the brightly colored blocks.
very pretty blocks! I've never heard the term "manchester" before. :P
This is going to be such a pretty quilt! I love the paintbox squares so far.
My next big quilt project will be attempting to make the single girl quilt with the Hope Valley line for our queen sized bed...trying to work up the courage to start that :)
