Quilt Festival

Initially I wasn't going to participate in the Quilt Festival Amy at Park City Girl is hosting. I figured I haven't been quilting all that long, therefore I haven't many quilts under my belt. And then I decided, the hell with it. So here goes...

I think my favourite quilt I've done to date has to be the initial Stars Align Quilt. It was my first attempt at anything wonky and even though not much wonk was achieved (I struggle with things not being symmetrical), it was a freeing experience.

Plus the quilt has some of my favourite fabrics by some of my favourite designers... Heather Bailey, Amy Butler and Tina Givens.

I stippled this one instead of doing straight lines like I'd initially planned on. And I'm so glad because I really think the crinkling adds just to its charm.

I'm utterly in love with the binding on this quilt. I have a strange love for binding, and it's possibly my favourite bit about making a quilt. I don't know if it's about the actual binding, or it's because it means the quilt's almost done!

Anyway do pop over to Amy's blog and check out the other Quilt Festival entries. Remember to come up for air once in a while... there are some amazing quilts out there :) Thanks Amy, for hosting!!

It is a really pretty quilt and I know what you mean about the binding!

I'm with you on the odd love for binding. :-) I am not a huge fan of hand-sewing as a general rule, but I love stitching down that binding and watching the quilt finish, an inch at a time. So satisfying!

Beautiful Audrie! I'm actually participating in the Festival too. I only have two quilts under my belt so far (so I showed both) and I am in awe of the beauty of your work, even if you say you haven't been quilting long.

Nice quilt. For a relatively new quilter, you do very nice work, or take great pictures. I'm leaning toward BOTH! Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

I am not a quilter by any means having only made two - but the binding is my favourite as well..

it's awesome!! you're too funny about the wonky part! I struggle with things that are too perfect, so I TRY to make them off. I'm a little weird that way. I love that freshcut binding too. Very nicely done!

I have the same love for binding because it's the final step from project to finished piece. What a beautiful way to showcase the fabrics you love.

I don't see much wonkiness but am probably distracted by the beautiful soft colors and fun binding! Thanks for sharing your quilt's story.

I like your soft pretty stars. Everything pulls together really well and looks so professional. Did you use an off-white for the background? It also looks soft rather than stark.
