Scrappy Trip Around The World

I'm fairly certain I never photographed or did a post on the finished scrappy trip around the world quilt I worked on along with half the quilters on Instagram last year! Whoopsies!!

I've pulled off the doona since the weather has warmed up considerably, and it lived at the foot of our bed in a giant ball. I will miss that Marimekko Kivet print though! But that's okay, I've got my Liberty of London quilt and this scrappiness to fill the void :)

I'd started with a stack of DS Meadowlark prints (minus the beige one) and then grabbed scraps out of my stash in colours I thought would go, but nothing too matchy. It's supposed to be scrappy after all! I did however use dark blues and blacks for every middle row, and a yellow in between to create some kind of cohesiveness through the entire thing.

I ended up with 36 blocks, so it's about 72" square. I used a black and white stripe for the binding, and the backing is just a solid in mustard. It's one of my favourite quilts I've ever made because it's just so crazy and fun. Definitely see a few more in my future :)

Can a scrappy Trip Around the World be done with fat quarters? I have a zillion and would like to try this.

I love your version too. Mine is one of my favorite quilts and I want to make another for a dear friend. I am going to be more deliberate as you were in the long line, it does help pull it together.

The fabrics are perfect. I love that you didn't want them all match because it has so much more personality that way. That will be a fun one to see all summer!
