Hourglass Steps Baby Quilt

As I predicted, I couldn't help myself but make a quilty version of the Hourglass Steps pillow! I dug through my scrap pile first, and then poked around my stash... who knew I had so many low volume fabrics!? Wonder what else I have lurking in the piles of fabrics strewn about here :)

I used a Heath sketch by Alexander Henry for the centres again because I liked how they kind of disappear into the block without completely disappearing. In the tutorial, I'd used four strips on each side of the courthouse step block, and for the quilt, I increased it to five because I felt it looked better on a quilt for some reason. I quilted it simply... stitched in the ditch between each block, and then diagonally just to hold everything down.

The backing is a yellow and white dot from the DS Collection at Joann's, and the binding is a Kona Pomegranate. My favourite pink solid ever!

I was going to list this but then a friend popped by and asked if she could have it for her friend in NYC who's expecting her first baby! But of course! :)

Gorgeous, Audrie! I love its mix of bright colors and scrappy fabrics. Log cabin/courthouse steps are my faves to make. I would've had a hard time parting with this one :)

I love this quilt! This is going to be my first log cabin quilt. Are these strips 1.25 wide like your pillow?
