Single Girl Quilt... DONE!

Well, the top's done anyway. I've decided I'm not going to attempt quilting it because I might want to set fire to it. With the borders, it's about 90" square. There'd be too much wrestling and swearing, so I'm having it long arm quilted.

I hadn't touched these blocks in months and I couldn't remember at what point I was. I had one row put together, three more to go. Doh. But they came together pretty easily... I marked the sewing lines to keep things straight because there's a certain amount of wonk that accompanies curved piecing. Or at least when I do it there is.

Please excuse the state of my studio and fabric stash. There is no organisation whatsoever. I can sense my mother's disappointment.

I'm quite annoyed that sometimes the greys look different, but they're cut from the same piece of fabric! I don't get it. Stupid fabric.

After dinner, I put the rows together and slapped the borders on. My back hurts a little but I almost don't care. The quilt top is done!!! Now to figure out how I want it quilted. Bishop's fan immediately comes to mind. Hmmm... suggestions are welcome, of course!

In other news, look at my hydrangeas!!! I love them... so cheery and pretty :)

Unfortunately, our other hydrangea plant has gone to plant heaven. I haven't a clue what went wrong because I treated both the same. Oh well. Brown thumbs win again.

The hubs has mown the lawn and it's all nice. For a few days anyhow. Doesn't it look like a jungle behind the benches? I would've walked down there to take pictures but then I heard a rustling nearby and made a mad dash for the door. There is a squirrel on the bench on the far left, so there's your wildlife.

Tremendous! I haven't even started mine yet, have the fabric, can't decide on the solid, haven't started cutting. I think I'm a few years off where you are now! Haha. Great job.

I LOVE this. It's going to be so amazing. Way to go.

Also, I'm jealous of your hydrangeas. I was so excited to plant a hydrangea bush in my yard last year. And it died. :(

Audrie, such a gorgeous take on the single girl pattern. The gray and the hope valley give it so much of a more subdued feeling than Katie jump rope. Well done!

If it were me quilting it, I'd do something I could manage, like pebbles and echoes. Lucky for you, I'm not your longarmer. :-) What does your quilter think? There's plenty of room for some big showy design in the ring centres...

The fabric: Could be that even though it was the same, the batches of thread might have taken the dye differently. OR maybe it was an orientation problem. If you flip the quilt around, are the same chunks lighter that the rest or does it switch? Regardless, once it's quilted, you won't notice. You can't tell in photos unless someone named Audrie points it out.
