Custom Patchwork Quilt

I finished a quilt! Can you stand it? I cut the fabrics for this quilt during the power outage because that's really all I could do. And the moment the power came back on, I went right to work :)

Patchwork quilts are one of my very favourite kinds of quilts to make. They're so simple, but they always turn out so beautifully. Kind of old-timey too, which I love. I was asked to make this quilt by someone who'd seen this quilt on a blog and fell hopelessly in love with it. We all understand how that goes :)

I love this quilt so much. I told the hubs I want to keep it. He said to make another one exactly like it for myself. He's such an enabler.

The back and binding are from Denyse Schmidt's Sugar Creek line. I loved the floral print for the back because it had that sort of old-timey feel to it that fit the quilt so nicely. And goodness knows I love a good ol' stripey binding.

And for your viewing pleasure, an out-take! The wind decided to kick up the second we stepped outside, and the poor hubs had sore arms and couldn't breathe every time the quilt decided to smoosh itself on his face. Me? I was laughing. Because how could I not? :)

Cute! Love the backing fabric. And that is a good man - encourages sewing, engages in quilt holding... Yup.

Love it. Patchwork quilts have many pluses in my mind- 1. They go together easy and I don't have much time to quilts so easy is good 2. It lets the fabrics and colors do the talking (these days fabrics are so great looking who needs to plan much besides just showcasing them.)
