A bunch of random thoughts floating about...
* My poor Dad is laid up in bed after having had surgery to fix his slipped disc. He fought the idea of surgery at first, but not being able to stand for longer than 15 minutes without pain gets to a person pretty quickly. He's in a bit of discomfort now, but I'm hopeful that he'll be up and about like his old energetic self soon enough. To help with his recovery, we've nicknamed him Brokeback Mountain (Well, actually my sister Averil came up with that brilliant name. Bravo, Ave. Bravo.). It's okay, you can feel bad for him.
* The hubs has suggested we take a trip to the Pacific Northwest in the fall. When the man has a good idea, it's a pretty brilliant one. We've somehow fallen in love with Portland, OR without ever having been there ourselves. Maybe we just like to put a bird on it. I think while we're in that corner of the country, we'll probably visit Seattle and San Francisco too. Basically anywhere there's a large Chinese population...
* I'm plugging along with the wedding quilt for our friends. I have six blocks to go so it's actually been a far quicker process than I'd imagined. The pattern calls for sashing around the centre of the quilt (the main centre block and smaller stars) but I want to add an outer border too. Mainly to make it a bit larger, but I think this quilt would look nicer without the binding sitting right on the blocks.
* I need a larger design wall. Damn you, windows and giant archways.

Ok, this is bizarre.... I experience extreme randomness when sleeping and I totally had a dream last night that there was some quilting thing here in town and you (yeah, I know) came with your dad (??) and we were going to have coffee after you guys got back from the (completely imaginary) waterpark. ????? Probably had something to do with our karaoke plans.... My best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Also, probably not a good idea to eat sour candies right before bed.
My kind of design wall Audrie, thats the way I do it too. well except for the clothes pins...what are they clipping too? I used to thumb tack a batting to the wall but then we painted and I added some shelving so no design wall. Got to figure it out, I'm tired of the guest room bed.
Hope your Dad feels better soon.
If you travel up I-5 from Portland to Seattle you really must stop at Sister's Fabric Shop in Chehalis WA. They have over 11,000 bolts of fabric. A really wonderful shop. The address is 457 Market St. Chehalis WA 98532n if you want to google it. The web address is www.sistersfabric.com You won't be sorry.
duct tape, an 8' length of 3/4 inch pvc, queen sized batting and curtain hooks - bam, a roll-up design wall you can hang over windows, from curtain rods or in front of bookcases, and roll away as needed.
lol. brokeback mountain. poor guy. surgery aside, i am obsessed with quilts, and cant tell you how happy i am to have found your blog. this is amazing.
yay for visiting the pacific northwest! you might just find that you actually love it (beyond putting bird on it ;). Seattle is amazing, but you have to pick the right time of year...unless you like cool temps and steadily dripping rain, both of which make for great sewing weather. Can you tell that I live in Seattle? That I am a weeee bit biased towards this piece of the country? Portland is pretty too. You can take a train from Seattle to Portland.
