Today in our bedroom...
Hubs: "Okay, I'm going to try this again."
Me: "I don't get why you can't do it. You're not stupid."
Me: "I don't get why you can't do it. You're not stupid."
Hubs: *Shrugs / Gets tangled up with tie*
Me: "Is it that you're just not good with your hands? You're good with brainy stuff..."
Hubs: "Yeah I think that's what it is. I can understand complex theories but can't do shit with my hands."
Me: *Watching him struggle* Alright, that's it. I can't watch this train wreck anymore."
Hubs: "Heyyyyy that's not nice..."
Me: *Halfway out the door* "TRAIN WRECK!"
I've run out of ideas of how to help the guy. He has instructions posted on the mirror in our room and I've tried teaching him... I don't know anymore!

try a youtube video for him! :)
Bless. When working on tasks like this with young children I use backward chaining. Break the task down into lots of very small steps. Do all the steps for him except the last which he does. Lots of praise for his success. When he's confident with the last step alsoget him to dothe next to last step. Keepworking backwards until he is able to manage himself.
Alternatively look at the steps individually and se which he struggles with then work on just those one at a time. The orders not important at this stage, treat each step as an individual task

Maybe he just likes you to do it for him . . . guys are like that!
Corporal punishment worked for Victorian England kids....you should try it. If love and sweet words don't work, harsh beatings might.
Alternatively you could look into clip-on ties.
=) hehehehehe!
My husband keeps all his ties 'tied' hanging in the closet...he just loosens it and slips it over his head when he is done and then when he needs it again it is still tied...good thing you can tie a tie...I am challenged like your husband! Lisa in Texas
I vote for clip-on ties... :)
This just makes me laugh out loud!! My husband has the SAME problems with other tasks...it is just painful to watch!! Thanks for sharing :o)

Get him a bow tie. And suspenders. And post many many pics on here. :P
giggle...maybe the directions need to be displayed in the mirror. The instructions should be posted behind him and reflected in the mirror; that way he can follow the directions as though someone is actually tying the tie behind him...does that make sense....lol....
