Clearing Up The Romantic Air

My poor hubs. He got a wee bit lambasted after the last conversation post, didn't he? It really was meant as a joke because we're funny like that.

To be clear, Steve tells me every day that he loves me. He gives me a kiss before he leaves for work and when he gets home. He holds me in bed every night because he knows it's easier for me to fall asleep when he does. He does this even though his right arm is completely crushed and he starts to get pins and needles.
I have a confession to make. In our relationship, I'm the one who's not romantic. If he told me I'm beautiful everyday, I'd punch him in the throat. It just sounds too damn weird and corny to me.

I don't care for flowers or to be whisked away on a romantic weekend or taken to an expensive restaurant. (Chocolates I like, only because I'm a die hard fan.) I don't need him to buy me things or spoil me. All those things don't mean love... they just mean you have money to burn or like incurring debt.

I was brought up in a home where "I love you" wasn't bandied about. It didn't mean that we didn't know we were loved and that our parents would've given their right arms for us to have everything we wanted or needed. My paternal grandmother has probably never told me she loves me but I have no doubt that she does. She knows my favourite foods and cooked them for me whenever she could. I now do the same for my loved ones.

I have dinner ready every night, I do the laundry, press his shirts... now that's love, baby :)

I love following the way you two love birds converse. I almost wet myself when I read: "I'd punch him in the throat" - freakin' hilarious! Even funnier than the Romance Fail post when your hubby said: 'he's full of shit'. You two crack me up. More please!

I totally knew it was a joke. Everytime you post one of those type posts... I have to call my hubby over to see.

i think people who visit your blog often and know a little bit about you and your relationship with you hubby understand that it was a joke, as almost always is when it comes to your crazy conversations. my own comment was a joke too. but the thing is... i really think it's sweet of you to write this today too. like you, I'm lucky to have a wonderful husband and a kind of relationship with him that sometimes people outside don't get, as well, so i understand that everyone shows love in different ways.
and by the way, i don't ever remember hearing "i love you" from my parents or anyone else in my family. we go as far as "i like you a lot" or maybe just maybe one "i'm proud of you". but that's about it. and i didn't turn out a sociopath because of it... ehhehe
