Make Life...

Fun? Happy? Insanely cute?

I just love the Make Life... fabrics by Sweetwater. The colours are bright but slightly muted so they're not so shouty. (It's a word...)

I got the layer cake from Julie a while back and couldn't figure out what to do with it. I knew I didn't want to cut up the pieces too much because there's quite a few prints that are pretty large scale.

Then it occurred to me to just use the same pattern as I did with the Hushabye quilt. (As long as a layer cake has 42 pieces in it, you can make this quilt in the same dimensions -- 6 x 7 squares.)

I wanted something more fun than stippling to reflect the fun prints. So I did loopy quilting and I think I'm in love! I'd tried it on a doll quilt once before and hated it because I never quite knew where the loops should go next, and it all looked like a big mess to me.

But I told myself to grow a pair and just do it... if others can, so can I (that's always what I say to myself with anything new)! So glad I did because I just love it.

I kept the back a little more calm since the front is nice and colourful. Pretty, pretty :)

I used one of the fabrics from the back as the binding. I really love that shade of green! I believe I need to get lots more of it...

The quilt measures 48" by 55" and makes a very large baby quilt or small throw. It's currently available in the shop SOLD! :)

I too also have a make life layer cake. I haven't decided what to make with it yet, but your quilt looks really cute and I like your loopy quilting.

That Make Life is super cute! Love the loopy quilting - not sure I would be brave enough to do it. I would worry that areas would end up left out.

I love Make Life. The colors just make me happy! I'm hoarding a layer cake and a jelly roll and some yardage . . . can't commit to a design yet!
