Last week my friend Rebecca asked if I'd make a quilt for her brand new niece, Diane. Like I'd say no!
She gave me pictures, colours she wanted, prints she liked and didn't like... and here's what I came up with :)
I mulled over the layout for a long while... Rebecca really liked the pink Birdie quilt but because the dimensions she wanted wouldn't have allowed for the same look, I made a giant log cabin block instead. I'm totally in love with it!She asked for Diane's name somewhere on the top of the quilt, so I appliqued it then quilted over it. All I can say is I'm glad she has a pretty short name... hehe!
I didn't want to use a whole lot of the butterfly fabric because it was so much bolder than the other fabrics, so I used it in the centre, the name and binding. That way it popped nicer and it wasn't all butterflies everywhere.
You can't really see the different fabrics too well since they're all very soft and muted, but they're all dots and swirls in different shades and sizes.

I'm in love with it too!! You did such a great job, thank you! And I'm so proud to see the quilt on your blog, too. Very cool.

adorable! I love the purple and green together and the subtle appliqued name. Very pretty!
Hye ! I'm Diane's mother. I just want to say that the quilt is now arrived in her bed in France. I'm really happy with it ! And I'm sure that Diane will also love it later. Thank you very much !
