I finished my MIL's birthday pressie last night. I kept the design and quilting super simple because she doesn't like anything fussy.
And because the quilting's so simple and sparse, it's super soft and soooo cuddly. She called me on her way home yesterday...
MIL: "So whatcha doing?"
Me: "Quilting.. what else?"
MIL: "Oooh what colours are you using?"
Me: "Umm beige, brown, pink, blue, green and salmon / coral."
MIL: "OOOOOOOH I love those colours!"
Me: *To self* "I know! Bwahahaha!"
I pieced the back with browns and beiges, her favourite colours. Before I met her, I didn't think beige could be anyone's favourite colour lol
The binding's a solid in a darker brown to tie it all together.
Now I just have to wait a whole week to give it to her. Argh.

Love the quilt, but ESPECIALLY the back...
It is very beautiful. She is very lucky to have you as a dil.
It's so pretty...I'm sure your MIL will love this.
That is awesome that you were willing to go out of your color comfort zone... I have had to do that on a quilt and the whole time I was sewing it I was thinking... "Really!?!? Is she going to like it!!!" Even though my friend completely loved it. It's amazing how we base our color choices on everyone else! ;) Even if they are the best choices!! ;) :D
Very nice! And too funny that she called as you were quilting it.
Waiting to give the quilt is the hardest part!
She will adore it! And the binding is fab!
It looks great, I bet it gets an excited reaction. It's a lovely quilt.

This is beautiful- too funny that she called while you were making it. She would be crazy not to like it, you did a beautiful job. Thanks for sharing your lovely blog; keep up the great work!

very cute! This is such a great non-pattern for a patchwork quilt. I think I might use this idea for a quilt for my aunt.
It's gorgeous! I love that piecing.
Sometimes I like beige a lot...
