I made the binding out of stripey fabric because who doesn't love a stripey binding? Plus there was so much 'blank' space that I thought it'd be a nice frame.
I made the back out of the Kona cotton solids I'd used on the front. Now I totally want a colour block dress like that.
This one ended up measuring 40" by 51".
The second quilt was pieced together in the same fashion as the red, white and black quilt I made for my friend. Sort of improv with straight lines... a little bit of an oxymoron, no? Hehe.
The binding is Kona celery (I think? I really ought to write these things down...). I went with a solid since the front's a little busy. It ended up measuring 43" by 53".
I'm pretty in love with them both. I love how they're made of the same fabrics but look vastly different. And I like using purples, especially since it doesn't get much love. I have to say I used to be guilty of avoiding purple just because it made me think of Grimace heehee!
Both quilts are currently available in the shop SOLD.

both are gorgeous.
Both of your quilts are beautiful! I must admit, I'm a little partial to purple and green.
I love both of those! And I don't even like purple all that much - it looks so great with that green and grey.
(And I'm totally loving Zee Avi, from the Oliver People's ad!)
pretty! I'm a purple fan. :)
Very pretty, love the combination of colors. And a stripey binding is the best :)
Gorgeous! Love them both. I love that striped binding, and the backing, and the quilting. Great fabric combinations on these!
You could totally rock a colour block dress like that. Get sewing it, lady! :-)
I love the celery binding. It's not a colour I would have ever thought to use for it but now I imagine I'll be trying to find the right project to use celery binding...
ohhhhhhhh ! it's so so so wonderful ! I love both !
sincerely
Love both of these Audrie! Glad you are feeling better :)
awesome, and awesome Audrie!! and yep, I do love a good stripey binding!
eek! I love this color combination! The purple log cabins are great...I totally want to make a quilt just like this for myself!
I think I used the same striped fabric for the binding of another quilt I did (it's from Joann's right?)
I really really love the quilt with the four wonky log cabins! So fabulous!
