We got our keys a while ago... and that's about where the joy ended haha! I mean, I'm in such glee about our new place but holy crap there's a lot to do!
It was a mad dash to get quotes from people to work on the house (thankfully it's pretty much move-in ready... just a few minor things we needed to do, plus painting, of course), fix up the house we live in, find furniture and appliances that fit our space and needs (and budget!!!)... ohhhh mannnn... How do people do this with kids?!?! I'm so glad I talked the hubs into doing this before we had kids because I'd have been checked into a psych ward by now. Seriously, kudos to all you amazing parents out there.
We don't have a set date to move yet, but hopefully within a fortnight or so. And we're starting the culling and packing in the meantime. I knew I had a lot of crap but YEESH.
16 bags of clothes that went to Goodwill. I'm embarrassed to say that only three of those bags were the hub's. Ahem. What's even worse is that my closet doesn't even look like anything's missing! What the!?!
AND LOOK! The back of my car looked like I was channelling Dexter!!! I kept my fingers crossed we wouldn't pass a police car hahaha!
This was our initial packing effort. Eight boxes of our books. Which basically only housed a quarter of our total book hoard. Our skills at estimating the number of boxes needed are definitely lacking. So off to buy more boxes...
By the end of yesterday, we had packed 19 boxes of books and one box of the hub's winter clothes. There's more books, and soooooooooo many more clothes and miscellaneous things. And then there's the kitchen and appliances...
*WAIL* Whose idea was it to move anyway!?!?!
Oh yeah... mine... HEE!
I have to just keep telling myself it gets worse before it gets better. I'm hoping this heatwave takes a break because it's definitely slowing us down!!! I keep taking breaks, which basically mean I'm horizontal for far too long. We're going to the house sometime today to remove some hideous sconces from the wall... I know I'll feel better about all the packing when I'm at the house because ermahgerd I love it so much :)

People with kids use moving services. The packers will be here to pack up my stuff tomorrow! Ugh! Still so much to do of my part.
Hey! Unpacking here and have lots of boxes and paper in Windsor, CT. Do you get this way?

You don't have kids and you work at a quilt store one or two times per week...? Do you work another job? Sounds like you should have this moving thing down with all your free time!! :-)
Moving IS the absolute worst - hang in there! Keep visualizing that great new sewing space all unpacked and organized ;-)
i bet you're going to need 5,000 boxes for your sewing stuff >=)
Packing SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!
Having packed and moved during a heatwave - I totally commiserate. Glad no one pulled you over for your Dexter-like appearance - haha!
