I know I just posted about a courthouse steps quilt but here's another one anyway. Deal with it! :)
Ever since I worked on the cream courthouse steps quilt, my love for the pattern had been rekindled. The first time I'd ever made one, it was for the Lanterns in the City quilt (from Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe) and I'd wanted to make more but I remember being too busy at the time with commissions to work on things I wanted to.
So right after I finished the cream courthouse steps quilt, I cut strips from my DS fabrics to make its opposite... an insanely bright one! Hehe! These quilts do take a bit of planning (which is why I included a sheet in the book where you can make a note of what fabric goes where) but after a bit of scribbling, it's really all sew-iron-trim-sew-iron-trim... you get the idea (I totally just typed 'Ikea' at first... I just spent four hours there last weekend... clearly, I'm still traumatised).
I used Kona Chartreuse for the centres and binding so that they'd stand out against all the other colours. I'd originally gone with Pomegranate, but I had a feeling it wouldn't pop quite as much as I wanted it to. Plus I was always going to use Charcoal on the back, so the Chartreuse made more sense. The quilting was kept simple... A crosshatch and in the ditch between blocks with 50 wt Aurifil so that it didn't fight with the pattern or fabrics
The quilt ended up being 52" by 60" (a nice medium lap size) and

Okay, I'm totally putting this on the "must make" list. Not a DS fan -- yes, we do exist! -- but love your multi-color many-fabrics approach). I can see one of these emerging from my FQs bin.
