2012... See Ya, Don't Wanna Be Ya

I've had a semi-productive year in quilts. I didn't make quite as many as I normally do because I put the kibosh on custom quilting. It was a decision I knew I had to make but it was so difficult to actually say out loud. But I'm so thankful I did because I enjoyed my time at Sewing Summit, I had so much fun with my sisters visiting... all without worrying about deadlines. I even enjoyed the time leading up to Christmas for once because I wasn't working day and night trying to finish quilts.

So while I've been able to do my own thing a little more, I've made loads more quilts that I've wanted to. Quilts for myself, quilts for friends' babies, quilts for the shop etc, and I've been able to do lots of English paper piecing and actually started knitting again! I stopped the latter because it was too time-consuming, and I never had the time to spare.

1. Single Girl Baby quilt, 2. Zoo quilt, 3. Ferris Wheel, 4. Mini Greenfield Hill quilt, 5. Cross baby quilt, 6. Scrap Vomit quilt, 7. Single Girl Quilt... DONE!, 8. Patchwork quilt, 9. Little Apples Circle quilt, 10. 20120409 Triangle Quilt-3, 11. Make Life... A Surprise, 12. Chopsticks quilt, 13. Boy Churn Dash quilt, 14. Four Squared quilt, 15. Ladybug Swoon baby quilt, 16. Boy patchwork quilt

These are some of the quilts I've finished this year. There are some I didn't include because they're not finished, some I'm sure I've totally forgotten to add, and some I can't show you yet. Wink winkers.

Oh, and I'll blog about that first quilt later this week. Pinkie swear. I just had to add it in my year-end wrap-up.

But on a serious note, this past year has been so trying. There have been wonderful highs though -- I saw myself published for the first time (the hubs is not the only one in this house who's published... booyah!) and I hope that it's only the beginning :) The very best bit of my year had to be Sewing Summit where I finally met lots of my friends in person. Being able to talk to them face to face was just insanely fun, and realising they're as silly and sarcastic as you hoped they'd be was sheer bliss.

And the lows... the lows have been unbearably low. I won't go into detail, suffice to say that I wouldn't wish it on any family. I truly hope the year ahead brings with it better luck because we as a family can't take much more. I moped for a while, but I've decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and focus on the positive. And if it weren't for the hub's quiet strength, I'd be a complete mess. Thanks for putting up with this crazy short stack, honey.

I hope everyone's 2013 will be filled with love, laughter, good friends, and most of all, health. And fabric. Lots and lots of fabric. I don't know each and every one of you, but please know that I appreciate that you read my words, laugh with me and keep me in your thoughts when times are tough. Thank you isn't really enough, but thank you. Sincerely.

Happy New Year Audrie, I am like you, for the most part glad to see 2012 creep away. But in the end it is family, friends and love that carries us all through...oh and a bit of fabric too!
