My name is Audrie and I'm addicted to triangles.
I love them. Especially for when you have larger scale prints and you don't want to do big patchwork squares. Not that there's anything wrong with them. Goodness knows I love my patchwork quilts.
I started playing with
Bella by Lotta Jansdotter and immediately thought to cut triangles from them. I had more than enough for one, so I made two! Go figure!
The first one is a lot like the
Tango Mango ones where it's just an overall triangle, and quilted stitch-in-the-ditch to avoid fussiness.
I used two solids on the back... I think Kona Charcoal and Ash. And for the binding, I went with Heath in black. Man do I love me some Heath :) To me, it's possibly the bestest ever blender fabric.
With the second Bella quilt, I decided to put borders on a smaller bunch of triangles and play with some free motion quilting. SO much fun! I tried Angela Walter's concentric swirls where the triangles are, and they came out quite nicely. The texture is insanely satisfying to run your hands over. Again, and again, and again :)
For the border, that took a bit of thinking. At first I started doing straight lines with some little pebbles. Then I spent half an evening ripping them out because I hated them. Funny how something that took ten minutes to put on could take hours of swearing and ripping, no?
Eventually, I went with a bit of a geometric square maze sort of thing. I don't know what it's called, okay! It's my first time doing this one too, and it was actually quite fun. You kind of need to think about where you're going next, but it worked out nicely. I think the round swirls and the geometric squares pair up nicely in that opposites attract sort of way.
The backing is the teal check from the Bella collection (my favourite!), and the binding is the dark grey and white dot.
Both quilts are now available in the shop! First one's sold, second one's still in the shop SOLD

I like them!
I am also addicted to triangles. We could start Triangles Anonymous, but I don't want to stop making them. I just wish they weren't so time consuming! Both of your quilts are totally gorgeous. Have you seen Lotta Jansdotter's latest line - Glimmma? I've seen glimpses around blogland and I think it might be my favourite one yet.
These are awesome, Love!
I also love triangles! In fact, my last 3 quilts have used this same layout. I am thinking of being a bit more adventurous and trying a half square rectangle.
These are great - really need to play with some triangles myself!
Swearing? You? Can't believe it. Cute quilts.
So fabulous! How can you part with them? I have tried the "square stippling" as well and loved it. My usual stipple looks square anyway so I may as well run with it!
I love triangles and Bella too. What a great combination!
