I made this pillow for my friend who had a birthday last month but I haven't been able to meet up with her yet. It started out as 60 degree triangles but it somehow turned into a kaleidoscope heehee!
I stacked the strips so that the dark fabrics would remain the same on the inside of the kaleidoscope while the lighter fabrics alternated. Kind of like this... kind of want to keep it... probably shouldn't. Occupational hazard... what can I say?
Continuing with the kaleidoscopes, I'm working on pillows for another friend whose birthday was last month and I haven't met up with yet. The pillows just need the backs sewn on... damn procrastination.
In other news, I cut up my Kona colour card (picture was taken at night with my iPhone, hence the crappiness). That first snip into the card made me hyperventilate a little. I tried to keep the fabrics stacked according to colours, but that worked for about five minutes and is now a jumbled mess.
I know quite a lot of people have had the idea to do this and haven't had the heart to cut up their cards. I say do it. Do it... and then order a second one. Yes, that's exactly what I did. Did I not mention the hyperventilating?
Also, I've been fiddling around with the layout of my blog. Let's be honest. I have no idea what I'm doing. So every time you pop by here, there's a good chance you'll be a witness to the ridiculousness. Thank goodness for the preview function, but once in a while I don't catch something and whoopsies.
Oh, and unrelated, I accidentally deleted an entire bookmark file. I'm a technical genius.

You are too funny!
If you wait a few more months, those pillows would make great Christmas presents for your friends! :o)
You are a quilty genius! I am definitely ordering another kona card and cutting one up! (I'm not brave enough to do it before I get the second one...only because I'm pretty sure I will lose at least 5 little pieces within minutes of the card slaughter...they will, of course, be the most important 5...)
WOW- that is such a great idea! i can see how damn helpful that is. and i hyperventilated reading the first few words of the post! i've calmed down now.
Love the new look, the pillows and your cutting of the card!
I don't sew enough to justify a colour card myself but what a good idea! Have you considered punching a hole in the white part and putting them on a ring?
You are a funny one!! I love the cut up Kona cards. I would put a little hole at the top of each one and tie a ribbon or pretty string to keep them all together when you are not playing with them :)
I cut up my colour card...but just into sections. Makes things easier, without a chance of colour loss. I just can't bring myself to order another card! (If I did, I would totally cut my exisiting one to bits!)
eeeek - I don't know if I could cut it up! Kind of like that first time I did steeks in knitting. Totally terrifying.
Lovely pillows! I really like the black and white look. Thank you for sharing.
