Anywhooooo... I started making blocks last week and didn't really have a plan. Each block was improv since I was trying to channel the quirky feel of Dr Seuss.
I initially did some free-motion quilting but it just seemed like this quilt would do better with straight line quilting... with some wonk thrown in.
And so I did a grid pattern... one set in white, one set in turquoise. I was going to throw in red but I was a little afraid of it looking like a hot mess.
I like how it turned out, so moral of the story... always trust your instinct :)
For the back I used mostly yellow solid with a patchwork stripe down the centre.
And just for giggles, I quilted the little peanut's name on one of the corners. They better still name him Eli or I'll have to pretend this was just a squiggle...
Anyway I delivered the quilt today and my friend loves it! Phew! Plus we compared it to the crib bumper the grandparents are gifting from Pottery Barn Kids, and it matches! Double phew! :)
For my gift, I'll be making a matching (ish) lap quilt for the couch since I'm sure they'll be spending lots of time snuggling once the little one arrives. The baby shower's in Sept so I'll be starting that one soon... ish...
