I went to the sewing machine shop today to plonk down money for the Janome 6600 like a sane, reasonable person would. It was the wise choice. So many people have it and love it.
What the hell happened?!?! Let me tell you it's a strange sensation when you want to do cartwheels and keel over at the same time. My husband is of absolutely no help at keeping me in check. He's all "Get the Horizon honey", "You''ll be glad you did", "Just buy the big one". ENABLER. But, a very sweet enabler :)
So anyway, I have to wait a week to get my new baby. One week. One loooooooong week.
I've narrowed her name down to either Hilda or Hedwig. Their meanings pertain to war / battle. I think it's only fitting. My current machine's name is Gretel, which means pearl. My husband thinks I'm mad for naming my machines. I think he need to zip it.
So now... what does one do for a week when one is the most impatient person in the world ever?

No. WAY.
Wohoo, can't wait to hear what you think of it!
I soooo knew you were going to do it. But - Where did you get that husband????
For the next week, you can make lists of all the projects you can save for Gretel since she's being promoted to "Big Girl" sewing machine. Curtains, mending, sewing lessons for kids with Auntie Audrie...
Oooooo..... pretty :) I like Hedwig. I am impatient too, so I have no advice for getting through the week, all I can say is I hope it goes super fast!
I - a VERY impatient person - would be scouring the internet for any preview ratings, notes from those who have seen it at a festival, and reading the online manual (if they have one).
SUPER exciting! You could shop for some great, special fabric to use on her first day :) I can't wait to see a picture of her in action, with a huge quilt stuffed in!
I so adore that you name your machines! And I love that you are buying the Horizon! Yahoo!
OH MY GOSH! How can you keep from jumping up and down until it arrives? You are goint to have a blast with that! Can't wait to see what you are going to stitch up with your new machine!
Hilda is great, Hedwig reminds me of Hedwig and the Angry Inch!
wow! I just saw this machine on the Janome site today...I'm not shopping...how exciting!! You can shop for fabric this week, and it will get to you just in time for a first project!
I'm an enabler too :)
Well done! It is going to be a long week but it'll take that long to work out which project should be the first one under the needle of your new baby :o)
Wonderful husband you have!
Ab
my grama has a cousin named Hedwig and man, is she fiesty! A quick wit, a great laugh, a thick German accent. So that's my vote anyway..
So when will you be getting the new baby lol bet it will get worked well
Hugs Janice
Good for you! I hope you love it - and get over the guilt very soon.
xo
you are going to love it! I'm so excited for you!
You could find the owner's manual online and start reading it now so that you can be ready for when it arrives (a little dry, I know)
I am so excited for you! I like the name Hilda. What to do for a week? I suggest cut lots of fabrics so that when it comes, you can just sit and sew.
Yeaaa! I hope the week flies by for you!
Cool! Can't wait to hear how much you love it!
Ok, I am so jealous. My husband did the same thing to me not too long ago except it was to get the BabyLock Espire instead of the Janome 6600, and then this one comes out....of course! My luck sucks! I really would love to hear how you like it. I really want one and I haven't even seen it. I just hope that I dont like it better than my BabyLock or I might be having a trade in :( lol. Is the week up yet? I want to hear the news...lol
