I Have An Answer...

Remember a while back when I had a question about what machine to upgrade to? I believe I've come to a decision.

A few people had suggested it in the Sapphire 875's stead, and when we went to speak to my local Janome dealer, even he suggested the 6600 over the 875 without any input from me.

We spoke with him for a while, I read reviews when I got home... I think my decision's made.

I already have a Janome so I wouldn't need to buy all new bobbins etc. And the 6600 comes with the feet I need. With the 875 I'd need to buy the extra feet, at an exorbitant price at that.

The only thing I'm pondering, and it's only a little thing, is whether the extra one inch on the 875's throat is going to make a big difference. Probably not, right? The guy did say Janome's releasing an 11" throat machine in May, but the cost doubles. So no thanks.

Anyway I shall think on it, save my pennies and hopefully sometime soon I can upgrade my machine!

good to hear... that is the same machine I am saving my pennies for too... but I did not know that about the increased throat size. Will that change the 6600 making IT more expensive or is another model coming out?

I have the 6600, and love love love it. The throat is quite large, a huge improvement over my old 'regular' machine (a Janome under the Kenmore label). I think you'd be quite happy with it!

I have the Janome 6600, and I love it! It was a birthday present from my sweetie a year or so ago. I have been sewing for 40+ years, and I can honestly say this is the nicest machine I have ever used. I especially like the thread cutter and needle down option. Mine was purchased in October when the "Christmas special" prices were in effect---we saved almost $500 during that sale. Also the speed adjustment option is very nice---and the space, the attachments etc. One thing that must be done as a owner of this machine is the cleaning under the bobbin area. It makes a difference and does not take long. So, you might guess that I highly recommend this machine. I am, however, anxious to see the new machine Janome is coming out with. Best wishes!

Eveyone I talk to that has one of these really loves it. When I go on retreats 75% of the group has the 6600p, that tells me a lot.
I am just procrastinating because that's a lot of money to spend on "me". If it were a laptop for the kids or something for hubby, I wouldn't be pondering, but.........today is our 15th wedding anniversary, so maybe I should hint...........
I assume you bought it?? do you love it??
