A Quilt For Little Lea

I finished a quilt for my niece Lea who turns two next month. She lives in Singapore, so my sister offered to take it to her for me.

This adorable fabric's from Ikea, and they actually have duvets available with this print but I thought I'd get the fabric and make her a quilt instead. I've got enough to make another quilt with this and I think I'm secretly keeping this for my future child. Shh, don't tell anyone.

I really feel odd about calling this a quilt I made. I pretty much just took two lengths of fabric and batting, slapped them together and started quilting.

The reason I did this is that Lea's mum (my cousin Lavinia) is possibly the fussiest person when it comes to decor and colours. So in hopes of not testing her gag reflex, I thought I'd keep it super simple. The back's just a pink gingham, and the binding's the green dot fabric again. I really tried not to use it for this quilt, but even my sister agreed it was necessary.

These are some of my favourite little characters on the quilt top. They even have little dolls of these characters in the store. It took a lot of willpower not to scoop them up and run over to the check-out.
