Me: "Hello?"
MIL: "Hi, it's me."
Me: "What's up?"
MIL: What's 66 kilometres?
Me, after consulting with calculator: "A little over 41 miles. Why... do you ask...???"
MIL: "The damn Olympics are all in kilometres!!!"
She makes me laugh.
And she's lucky she has me. I'm Chinese (read: good at math) and I grew up with the metric system. I foresee many more calls over the course of the Winter Olympics.

Love that! I may have to call you myself some times. I've gotten down most other converstions, but I always forget Kilometers to Miles.
Haaha- this entry cracks me up. I've been completely confused watching the Olympics this time around too! Art school has destroyed the math parts in my brain!
hilarious!
I'm not so good at metric here, but I wish the USA would get on board with the rest of the world...it makes so much more sense.
i heart math... but i hate conversions!!
I know nothing of miles! I did not know inches either until I started quilting. The measurement that really gets me confused is Fahrenheit. I have to admit I like metric better though here in Canada, weight and height are usually in pounds and feet.
