Oh Hi! We Moved!

Oh hey there. Remember me? The shorty pants who used to sew and blog here?

Okay, I have a good excuse for not blogging this time! We moved a fortnight ago and I'm now just able to turn on my Mac! I decided to focus on the rest of the house before doing anything to my sewing room. But it's mostly because there was just so much crap everywhere and it was just impossible to set up my Mac. Tonight I finally cleared everything off (well, when I say everything off, I mean I simply relocated the mess) my desk! Tada!

Moving probably feels about the same as getting your kidney removed through your nostril. Oh let's take everything you own, put them in boxes, then you forget where you put everything because you're incapable of labelling anything properly. And then you have to find a place to put all your crap that you don't ever remember buying. We've thrown away SO much, and there's still loads of things I probably will donate.

And then the cats. Oh grief. One of them has been just fine, but the other one is all stressed, and she's let me know by doing a few wees on the new sofa. I've washed the covers, sprayed with that enzymatic cleaning stuff, and sprayed the entire house with stuff that's supposed to calm your cat. Now she looks like she's all doped up. Hopefully she won't need that calming spray much longer but if she wees on the other new sofa that's arriving next month, I'll skin her myself. Not really. Well. Maybe.

Also, I've built so much Ikea furniture that I feel I should be given some kind of award. Or maybe Ikea should now pay me. Because seriously. We've been there three times now, and I have this sinking feeling I have to return. Again. Their storage solutions can't be beat, and I'm just going to accept my fate.

I know the first thing anyone would want to see is the sewing room.... here it is! Okay, crap pictures, but four walls, windows, closets and a door. You get the idea. Although it's quite a difference from my old sewing room because now there's actually a door. I can leave my work, shut the door and not worry that the cats are getting into everything.

So you see that I have one shelf set up in the pictures above. How delusional was I!?! I mean, seriously. One? Hah.

We took another trip to Ikea and got three more shelves. I thought the short ones would be best so I could actually use the space on top of the shelves. Seeing as I have half a million rulers. And those are just the ones I use regularly. Let's not even talk about the ones I have on the bottom shelf, okay?

As you can see, it's a work in progress. I'm used to a messy sewing room but this is a mess that's doing my head in. Mostly because there's all these little bits of things that don't seem to have a home to go to.

We're settling into our new home quite nicely. I love how close we are to EVERYTHING. It's such a nice change not to have to drive 15-20 minutes to get to the highway now. I'm so used to living near the highway entrance, shops and restaurants... don't know how I survived for five years with all that bloody driving.

One of our favourite things down the street is J. Rene, a lovely coffee roaster that has some of the bestest coffee. And the fact that they sprinkle their chocolate chips with kosher salt makes me love them even more.

More pictures to come. I just wanted to make sure you knew I hadn't fallen off the face of the Earth or something hilarious like that :)
