As if to celebrate getting well, I made not one, but two baby quilts in purples and greens and greys! Oh my! That last quilt might've started a little obsession hehe
I didn't really have any kind of a plan when I started them. I made four wonky log cabins, and decided to try to make something out of them.
I made the binding out of stripey fabric because who doesn't love a stripey binding? Plus there was so much 'blank' space that I thought it'd be a nice frame.
I made the back out of the Kona cotton solids I'd used on the front. Now I totally want a colour block dress like that. This one ended up measuring 40" by 51".
The second quilt was pieced together in the same fashion as the red, white and black quilt I made for my friend. Sort of improv with straight lines... a little bit of an oxymoron, no? Hehe.
The binding is Kona celery (I think? I really ought to write these things down...). I went with a solid since the front's a little busy. It ended up measuring 43" by 53".I'm pretty in love with them both. I love how they're made of the same fabrics but look vastly different. And I like using purples, especially since it doesn't get much love. I have to say I used to be guilty of avoiding purple just because it made me think of Grimace heehee!
Both quilts are currently available in the shop SOLD.

both are gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteI love both of those! And I don't even like purple all that much - it looks so great with that green and grey.
