Ferris Wheel-ing

The very lovely and generous Katy sent me these Spring Carnival templates as a birthday gift :) I looooove English paper piecing so this just makes my toes curl. I got some mylar templates for the individual pieces and started a couple of nights ago.

Here's what I have so far. Basting squares and triangles are very odd to me because up till now, I've only ever worked on hexagons. It took a few tries but I found a good way of sewing them so that the bulk is lessened in the corners. It's probably not right, but it works for me.

I don't know what it'll become, but I'm having loads of fun piecing the beautiful ferris wheel block. If you'd like to join in, there's a Ferris Wheel Along going on, led by Aylin.

Hi Audrie, your work looks gorgeous! Are you willing to share the method you used? I have the templates also and would like to know a good way if it worked out for you. Thanks!

It's stunning! I have paper pieced lots of different shapes, but I think my favourite is still the humble hexie : )
