Flowers In The Garden

Once again, I missed the peonies. Obviously I don't go out to the backyard a whole heck of a lot. But I blame the previous owners for planting the peonies in a very odd corner of the garden that's almost under the back deck. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)

But my hydrangeas beside the steps on the back deck are in bloom and so pretty!

And there's also this bush with white flowers. I'm the worst at flower / plant names, so someone fill me in please? I thank you in advance :)

[I've been playing with my camera and editing so be prepared for some weird shit coming your way hehehe]

  1. Your unknown plant looks like a flowering dogwood (Cornus) to me...

  3. Your white shrub looks like what we call a "mock orange" but I don't know the botanical name. Does it have a fragrance, if somewhat strong? -Becky

p.s. I enjoy your blog. I visit often, but I am not a blogger. I like to grow things and I am learning to quilt.

Just did a quick search; here's a good link:

  4. I soooo love hydrangeas! They're everywhere in the US, but in Sg I have to pay $4-5 for one stalk of those things... So lovely though...

As for the second one, kinda looks like the frangipani here, but since it's not a tree i'm guessing it's probably not <=)

  7. Hi, I come out of lurkdom to say that the white shrub is a philadelphus (or mock orange), unmistakably (dogwood flowers are a different shape and the heart is not that yellow). It should be very fragrant - it's also called the poets' jasmine.
Love your blog ! (I might have left a message already sometime, but if I did I don't remember - old age...)
